Call for Participants: Green Standards Roundtable

Over the past year, with the introductions of Bill 17 and Bill 60, there have been significant changes in the regulatory framework surrounding municipal green standards in Ontario. These changes directly impact the green standards currently in place in 15 municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area, creating uncertainty in their application and impacting the practice of architecture and landscape architecture in the region. The future of green standards in the GTA is uncertain, but we believe architects can play an important role in shaping this future.

To better inform the TSA’s advocacy efforts in this area, we are convening an in-person roundtable on Wednesday, February 11 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM to discuss the impact of municipal green standards in architectural practice, as well as challenges and opportunities for improvement. We are looking for firm representatives who are familiar with the application of the various green standards in the GTA and who are willing to share their experiences. Discussion points will be summarized and will form the basis of future advocacy efforts on this item, including with municipalities and the province.

If you would like to participate in our roundtable, please send us an email at tsa@torontosocietyofarchitects.ca by no later than Wednesday, January 28. In your email, please highlight the reason your firm is looking to participate and what GTA green standards you have worked with.
